ChatGPT Helped Me Write This Post

Today, I changed the signature line in my email. It now states, "There is a strong possibility that this email was written by an AI Tool. The message you should gain from this is that you should learn to trust technology."

Since January, I have been using AI Tools to respond to emails, write speeches, and so much more. I was notorious for those "Per My Last Email" replies, and I have been delivered from
my team's "What did she mean by this email?" response. Here are some of the benefits that I have experienced using AI Tools in my day-to-day work:

1. Increased productivity: AI can help automate many repetitive tasks, allowing me to focus on more high-level work. For example, ChatGPT can generate responses to emails or messages, freeing up time to work on more critical tasks. Every morning I would set aside an hour or so to respond to various emails. From students interested in Code School to random people requesting information, I copy and paste those emails and prompt the tool to reply to this email: "...." and BAM, it writes a nearly perfect response for me. ChatGPT can help you get through your emails more quickly by suggesting responses or drafting entire messages. This can be especially helpful if you receive a high volume of emails.

2. Improved communication: ChatGPT can assist with drafting emails, speeches, and other written content. One of my biggest concerns is that I am not communicating effectively, and sometimes my emotional intelligence can be off. This can save time and improve the quality of my writing since the AI tool can offer suggestions based on its vast database of language knowledge. If I write something a little harsh, I prompt the tool to "rewrite this email, be more sincere with the tone," and BAM, the tool has rewritten a perfect "Per my last email" response.

3. Writing assistance: If you're a writer or blogger, ChatGPT can be a valuable tool for generating ideas, brainstorming, or even helping with writer's block. Some people will abuse AI apps, and some will pass on AI-generated thoughts as their own; it's sad, but it will happen. It helps me because it jogs my thoughts and helps me rearrange my words into a more sensible cadence.

Of course, it's essential to remember that AI and ChatGPT are not infallible, and it's always a good idea to double-check the output and ensure it aligns with your intentions. I use ChatGPT to jog my thoughts, and I use Grammarly to help me proofread. I have a zillion task in my day-to-day life that requires me to be present for many people, and trusting technology allows me to be there for my employees and students. Learning to trust AI and ChatGPT can offer many benefits that can help improve your productivity, communication, and work-life balance. Technology is not going anywhere; it will only get stronger and faster. We may as well embrace it before we are overwhelmed.
